Neu Prussien - The Ordenstaat.

A loosely defined semi-autonomous region of Northern Brazil that has largely been taken over by German industrialists and members of the Brotherhood of the Black Cross, a neo-Christian religious fraternity whose origins are to be found in the defeat of the Teutonic Ordenstaat of 1410. Neu Prussien itself has never been officially declared, but its origins begin around 1890 when the first mining settlement was established by four members of the Brotherhood of the Black Cross. Their names were Karl Johanson (a Swedish geologist), Kurt Abel (a German engineer), Otto Meyer (a German industrialist) and Julius Overhoff (an Austro-Hungarian banker).

Neu Prussien in 1939 is an advanced, industrial centre, with extensive international connections. Its income comes largely from mining but with some manufacturing of advanced agricultural and military machinery to the South American nations, primarily Brazil. The Brazilian government tolerates Neu Prussia largely because the Brazilian government is in fact a puppet organ of the Neu Prussien leadership which used its wealth and influence to foster a military government of Brazil.

Neu Prussien is governed by a twelve man strong High Council, whose members are known as the Ritter Bruder (Brother Knights). The Council has its home in a complex and modern bunker fortress complex at Rorainópolis. Each member of the council has a specific role which they undertake for as long as they see fit, or until their bretheren vote to remove them. Leadership of the Council is held by the Hochmeister, which is a largely hereditory title of the noble Prussian Schöenberg family. The Hochmeister has a wide range of powers, but does not govern autocratically. In any executive decision, he must have a majority of support form the High Council. The current Hochmeister is Baron Gottfried von Schöenberg.

Installations and assets

JAMO.

The largest industrial entity in Neu Prussien, JAMO was formed in 1891 by Johanson, Abel, Meyer and Overhoff in order to build the machinary needed to operate their first mine. In 1921 they began to manufacture tractors and small commercial lorries and in 1929 they expanded their enterprise and began to build licensed military equipment. By 1939 they produce heavy military transport vehicles, armoured cars, and light tanks. They also have a research division currently building several new vehicles, including a medium tank with a high velocity gun and a half-track rocket launching tank destroyer. Approximately 25,000 people are employed in some capacity or other, either directly by JAMO and its affilated subordinate companies. With commercial and military customers all through South America, JAMO has become the continent's foremost military industrial corporation.

Rorainópolis.

The single largest urban area in Neu Prussien with a population of roughly 165,000. Rorainópolis is the political and industrial centre of the Ordenstaat. Adjacent to the city is the main JAMO factory complex, and the Ordensburg fortress ' Neuschloss' from where the High Council governs the region. This latter is an extensive and well armoured semi-underground installation capable of housing 260 men for a period of several months, and is modelled on the French Maginot Line. Its primary armaments are a battery of four heavy mortar turrets, eight anti-aircraft towers and some forty bunker hardpoints equipped with 20mm auto cannon or heavy machine guns.

The Guianan savanna.

An area of rolling upland plains on the Guiana Shield between the Amazon and Orinoco basins, a large portion of which falls in the territory controlled by the Ordenstaat and which, since the early twentieth century, has been gradually developed for agricultural purposes. Due to the policies of the Brotherhood of the Black Cross, most of the region, though under the indirect political authority of Rorainópolis, is controlled by local tribal leaders. This sharing of political power, with an emphasis on local authority has led to considerable good will on behalf of the indigenous population with regards to the Ordenstaat and has contributed to many local tribes seeking leadership from the Ordenstaat rather than Brazilian government.
